Description:
(Odumase-Krobo, Ghana. Mar 2008) The Ghanaian managers of the Krobo Bead Center, Gladys and Thomas, were in the early stages of testing out a new model for producing their beaded products that would be set up as a private business called the Fair Trade Center. Women In Progress wanted to assist in the establishment of the center to ensure it would generate enough revenue to sustain and grow itself.
Achievements: Leimer assisted WIP in many aspects of the early stages of establishing the Fair Trade Center, including:
"The last day of my trip at the center I wanted to give some token of appreciation for all the things that the women taught me without realizing they were, so I decided to treat all of them for lunch. They were really grateful, but I was even more so and wished that I could have done more to show them how thankful I was." |
