Vacation
Tyler saying goodbye to the Global Mamas office staff on his last day

Description: Tyler came at the perfect time to continue the progress of various projects started earlier in the summer. It is very important to Women in Progress that the Global Mamas receive training to make them stronger business women. Tyler focused on projects of this nature teaching the logistics and importance of bookkeeping, bankability and fair trade. He worked to analyze and condense some of the teaching tools so that they would be very accessible to the women who are coming with little or no business training.

Accomplishments: Tyler was able to assist WiP and the Global Mamas in the following ways:
  • Teaching over 25 women a variety of business skills, including banking basics and the value of fair trade principles in the work environment.
  • Working with several Global Mamas on making preparations to apply for a loan.
  • Performing site visits to see where the women work and follow up on their fair trade education to ensure that the practices are being applied.
  • Editing and updating various education tools about bookkeeping, bankability and fair trade to ensure that they are accessible to the clients.
Highlights: Tyler really enjoyed the opportunity to work with the women teaching them valuable business skills. He particularly enjoyed seeing the women light up with understanding of a difficult concept. Having a keen interested in finance, especially micro-finance, Tyler enjoyed seeing a different perspective of the finance world. He took advantage of opportunities to learn from a variety of professionals in the field of finance in Ghana. He learned information that will surely be useful for him in the future.
