Description: While the Odumase-Krobo office produces a variety of beaded products, the development of the wholesale bead catalog created some new challenges. The main difficulty was in determining the original producers of each bead in the products and the catalog, so most of the work centered on finding both current and new bead-makers.

Accomplishments: Anne assisted WIP in creating its wholesale bead catalog in many ways, she:
  • Developed a master database of all the bead-makers WIP has interacted with, past and present, along with contact information and bead samples.
  • Designed maps of the locations of all the Global Mama bead-makers in the Eastern region.
  • Finalized the wholesale bead catalog, which included confirming the final bead list, standardizing bead sizes and colors, finding original producers, and doing a cost analysis for individual and bundles of beads.
  • Interviewed the various Global Mamas in the Odumase-Krobo area for the annual results tracking.
  • Taught Gladys and Thomas, the Fair Trade Center owners, how to use the internet and email.
 Highlights: Anne said that the friendships she formed with Thomas, Gladys, the Center girls, all the bead-makers and her fellow volunteers was her major highlight. She said that her entire experience was phenomenal, and she will not forget the memories and the friendships she has formed.
