Vacation
Liza and Matilda work on the Women in Progress accounts.

Description: As Women in Progress grows, so does its financial data. WIP recently hired a new full-time bookkeeper to take care of entering this financial data and keep track of cash flow. Using the QuickBooks accounting software program helps streamline the process, although it takes a lot of training to use it properly.

Achievements: Liza has a background in accounting and made a lasting impact on WIP by:
  • Training WIP's new bookkeeper, Matilda, in QuickBooks accounting software.
  • Assisting Matilda in entering and calculating WIP's 2006 financial data.
  • Creating a step-by-step training manual to teach WIP employees and volunteers in QuickBooks.
Highlights: Liza's most memorable moment was after Ghana beat Czech Republic in the World Cup match. All of the volunteers were together in Kumasi watching the game. After the game was over people ran into the street and starting dancing and cheering. She had never seen such a sight before. It didn't matter if you were an obibini (African) or an obruni (foreigner), rich or poor, young or old, everyone was celebrating together.
