Description:
Although WIP is currently self-sustainable, to finance the large costs of expanding its operations to new areas, outside investment is needed. WIP had identified a couple of grant opportunities and needed assistance in moving forward with these.
Accomplishments:
Gavin helped with a variety of projects:
- Researched and wrote a grant to the American Embassy Ambassador's fund for WIP's acquisition of Solar Power for the office.
- Researched international trade law under AGOA and began to put together a binding ruling submission that would give Global Mamas duty-free benefits from importing pre-sewn t-shirts into the US.
- Created a grant proposal for the Business in Development Network (BiD Network) that passed the first round and wrote the content for the second round of competition as well.
Highlights:
Gavin really enjoyed getting to know the diverse set of people at WIP: the other volunteers, the women at the office, Miriam and Appiah, and the Ghanaians he met around town.
