Description:
Women in Progress has found difficulty in the past to find outside funding, and the grant writing process itself is a long and intensive one. Although WIP's operations are completely self-sustainable through the proceeds of selling Global Mamas products and the assistance from volunteers, WIP does look to outside funding to expand to new locations so that it can grow at a faster pace.
Accomplishments:
In his three months in Cape Coast, Chris was able to:
- Complete several grant proposals for WIP's expansion to Odumase-Krobo.
- Assist in entering WIP in the Global Giving Open competition.
- Help identify other sources of funding.
- Work with WIP employees to help implement the new inventory management software for retailing Global Mamas products in Ghana.
Highlights:
Chris enjoyed meeting so many great people from Ghana, and all over the world. He felt his time with WIP was an all around enriching experience and that his personal and professional growth during his stay was an accomplishment in itself.
