Description:
The Global Mama's product line has already found great success in retail stores across America, as well as on the Global Mamas website. Seeing the potential of online sales and eager to enter into a more international online market, WIP was unsure how to best attract customers from around the world. A great solution was to open an eBay store. The exposure (especially international) that eBay would give to Global Mamas could pay off immensely in the long run and it was decided to invest the time and money into creating such a store front.
Achievements:
With Katie's IT and e-commerce know-how she:
- Opened the Global Mamas eBay Store.
- Created product information specific for Global Mamas that included info about fair trade and the Global Mamas' Mission.
- Wrote an XML script which allows the Global Mamas eBay Store to work alongside the already existing Global Mamas eCommerce store.
- Solved some programming issues and made additional enhancements to the Global Mamas eCommerce site.
- Gathered important information on international shipping terms and costs.
- Identified a huge spike in the traffic and sales of the Global Mamas online store due to click-through customers from the Global Mamas eBay Store.
Highlights:
Katie was glad to be able to apply her technical skills to achieve something of lasting value to WIP. She was especially satisfied on the morning she learned that we'd made our first eBay sale. An unexpected bonus of the project was a spike in sales on the Global Mamas website thanks to the links from the eBay store! Equally memorable was watching the World Cup 2006 from Ghana. She was in Kumasi when the Black Stars beat the Czech Republic 2-0! She was part of a spontaneous community party, nothing like she'd seen before.
