Description:
When Laura arrived Women In Progress was in the process of developing a new range of products for its 2009 catalogue. As a trained designer, Laura was able to integrate her experience into the various stages of design development to help WiP work towards completing its range of designs for the 2009 catalog.
Achievements:
Laura provided her expertise to assist WIP in many areas, including:
- Designing patterns for new batik cloth.
- Designing new accessories with other volunteers.
- Designing jewelry and home ware bead products.
- Some photography for the catalogue.
- Assisting with shea butter and soap labels.
- Designing a sign for Esther's sewing shop.
Highlights:
Laura said that she enjoyed seeing the positive feedback from designs that she did and seeing the approved batik patterns come back. She also liked working with the other volunteers and the Global Mamas themselves – and attempting to wax stamp.
