Just one of the many lovely photos that Christina took to tell the story of her time in Ghana

Description:
Christina Heggie took on a multi-part role with Women In Progress, working as a consultant, a photographer, and a teacher. For her consulting project, Christina worked with Esther, a local Ghanaian woman, to accelerate the development of her new non-profit organization. Christina worked with Esther to both define the business vision and to also create an action plan to support that vision. Christina also harnessed her creativity to provide photographs of women and the beautiful Ghanaian scenery that will be of tremendous use in current and future marketing campaigns. In her final project, Christina worked with two other volunteers on a long running project to provide basic computer skills to the organizations 70 plus Ghanaian women.
Accomplishments:
Thanks to Christina's abundant energy and determination she was able to: - Create a 15-page project proposal supported by a seven -year expected income sheet and projected sales analysis to procure grants and funding for Esther's non-profit Organization.
- Photograph 6 Global Mamas who had recently joined the organization and the women who work at Global Mamas' site in Ajumako where scraps of fabric are woven into rugs and trivets.
- Test and revise the textbook for the business computing class while teaching the class so that content could be streamlined and translated appropriately for the Ghanaian culture.
- Partner with another volunteer to capture over 200 photographs for Women In Progress' new 50-page cookbook, as well as postcards and wrapping paper products.
Highlights:
Though the slow paced working environment and the lack of the most advanced technology could be frustrating at time, Christina persevered in her projects to exciting outcomes. She enjoyed learning to adapt to the interactive and relationship-based Ghanaian work approach. She found immense value in prioritizing people; getting to know the other workders and the Global Mamas. She is most looking forward to seeing the posters with her photos completed and hearing of Esther's future success which she believes is inevitable. During her free time, she traveled throughout Ghana with friends, exploring every corner of the country for new adventures and learning. She visited over 15 cities before leaving, and she's looking forward to coming back again.
