Volunteer

Vacation
One of the elders from the fishing village and Wilson give a tour to a group of volunteers.

Description: During the summer, WIP had a team of interns working on various capacity building projects. The bookkeeping training and fair trade certification program still needed some attention to help make them successful in the long-term.

Accomplishments: Sammy was able to assist WIP in several areas:
  • Conducted fair trade interviews with eight of the Global Mamas regarding their working condition and treatment of their employees.
  • Updated the Fair Trade Education Packet into a PowerPoint presentation, and made it more engaging and understandable.
  • Assisted in revising the bookkeeping presentation as a result of feedback from the facilitator and women during the training sessions.
  • Put together a workshop timeline to keep the women in the program on schedule.
Highlights: Sammy was really impressed by how driven the women in Ghana are—very eager to learn and improve their business.
